ABOUT THERAPY : WHAT HAPPENS
During the assessment discussion, we will develop a shared understanding of the main problem. We will come to learn how the problem developed, how it continues to be a problem and look at the impact on different areas of your life.
Part of the process involves drawing out a map. I call this a ‘CBT jigsaw’ and we will build up a picture based on recent & past experiences.
The different interlocking pieces all affect each other.
For example: your thoughts influence how you behave, and how you behave affects how you feel both physically, emotionally, and mentally. Hence why it is important to keep your behaviour in mind.
Once the pieces of the jigsaw are ‘locked in’ there are short and long term consequences.
Our work together will be around unlocking the key pieces of the CBT jigsaw, to make adjustments so that what emerges is more in line with the life you want.
We will also look to help you further by setting up some values based goals, with the aim of moving you forwards to improve yourself and avoid or minimise setbacks.
